Van Nuys Driver Killed in Accident
A Van Nuys man driving a pickup truck was killed early Saturday when the truck slammed into the rear of a parked semi-tractor-trailer, police said.
Steven Edward Doss, 36, of Van Nuys was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 3:15 a.m. when his 1976 pickup struck the tractor-trailer parked on Louise Avenue near Archwood Street.
A passenger in the pickup, Edwin Whitespear, 22, of Van Nuys, was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center and later transferred to County-USC Medical Center where he was treated for severe alcoholic intoxication, a head injury and a broken leg, police said.
