Jockeys at Pimlico Race Course refused to ride on the icy track after a horse broke his leg during Friday’s seventh race, forcing the cancellation of a race featuring six Kentucky Derby nominees.
On the Lookout was destroyed after the second mishap of the day. Jockey Julio Heredia, thrown by Gyromancy in a three-horse spill in the fifth race, suffered a broken jaw and broken right arm.
