Huntington Beach officials said Sunday that they have not found the body of a 22-year-old man who disappeared while swimming in the ocean Saturday morning.

Police believe that he has drowned.

The man’s identity has not been made public, but lifeguards said Saturday he was from Mexico City and visiting friends in Anaheim.

According to Huntington City Beach lifeguards, the swimmer was last seen at 11:37 a.m. Saturday in the water near Lake Street and Pacific Coast Highway, about 200 yards south of the Huntington Beach Pier.

A riptide was reportedly running near the shore about the time the man disappeared, lifeguards said Sunday.

Patrols were on the lookout all day but found no trace of the man, they said.

Another Mexico City visitor, Juan Manuel Ordones, 17, also disappeared in the surf near the same area on Feb. 24. His body has not been found.
