A man and woman murdered execution style at a Newport Beach rare coin dealership Tuesday were identified as a customer and the wife of the store’s owner, law enforcement officials said this morning.
Renee King, 38, of Orange was working behind the counter of Newport Coin Exchange when she was shot, said Newport Beach police spokesman Robert Oakley. Clyde Oatts, 45, whose address is unknown, was in the shop’s lobby with owner William D. King, 36.
Oatts and Renee King were pronounced dead at the MacArthur Boulevard store after being shot with a small-caliber gun in the back of the head. William King was shot in the head and the chest, also with a small-caliber gun, Oakley said.
William King is in critical condition at Fountain Valley Community Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said today. Oakley said King is under police protection.
