Local News in Brief : Cypress : Council Seeks to Fill Seat of Departing Mayor

The City Council has accepted the resignation of Mayor William Davis and voted to accept applications from residents interested in being appointed to the City Council to fill the vacancy, according to Mayor Pro Tem John Kanel.

Davis, 49, who announced his resignation in February, is moving to San Clemente. He has served on the City Council since 1986 and was a resident of Cypress for 16 years.

Applications are available at City Hall and must be submitted by 5 p.m. March 24. Any resident of the city who is a citizen and registered voter may apply.

The council has set aside March 30 for public interviews of the applicants.
