A new mystery dinner theater will open in Laguna Beach, its producers have announced. The venture, Laguna Mysteries Ltd., will debut on April 29 and is currently scheduled for Saturday night performances only. The first production, Julio Martinez’s “The Laguna Baron,” is about the unsolved murder of a millionaire Laguna Beach land developer. The audience will be guided through downtown Laguna by actors from the Comedy Company of Newport Beach, looking for clues at a bookstore, art gallery, several landmarks and Le Petit Gourmet restaurant, where they will dine and try to solve the crime. The three founders are Jules Swimmer, who owns the restaurant, and Mary Upchurch and Robert Brown, owners of Upchurch-Brown Booksellers store where some of the clues will be found. Laguna Mysteries is their first theatrical production. Audiences will be limited to 40 people. Tickets for the dinner and show are $48 per person. For information, call (714) 497-9742.
