Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : First Interstate Bank Branch Is Robbed

A First Interstate Bank branch was robbed Friday morning by a man who threatened to shoot a teller if she did not hand over cash, authorities said.

The robber entered the bank in the 3000 block of Harbor Boulevard about 10:30 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. John Pherrin said. The robber displayed no weapon, but he threatened to shoot if the teller did not comply with his demand, police said.

The teller handed the money to the robber, and he fled on foot. Police did not disclose how much was taken.

The robber was described as being in his mid 20s with a thin build and reddish-blond hair.
