For the second time in three years, a team from Sepulveda Junior High School has won the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Academic Pentathlon competition.

“I’m excited for the school and for the kids who have worked so hard,” said Melodye Wiens, coach of the nine-member Sepulveda team.

The Sepulveda team finished second last year but won in 1987, Wiens said. The sixth annual competition was held Feb. 25, but the results were announced on Friday.
