LOCAL : 2 Rob Store of $132,000 in Jewelry
Two men armed with a pistol and a sledgehammer stole $132,000 in jewelry from a Northridge discount store, police said today.
The men, who are still at large, entered the Best Products store at 19358 Nordhoff St. about 8:30 p.m. Monday, ordered a clerk to open a display case and emptied the jewelry into a pillowcase before speeding away in a stolen 1979 Buick, according to detective Damon Loomis of the Los Angeles Police Department. The car was found minutes later abandoned several blocks away, he said. The men were picked up by a second getaway car driven by a third person, who also has not been apprehended, Loomis said.
