Local : Fullerton Mother Held on Charges of Slaying Daughter in Argument

A Fullerton mother is in custody after she allegedly shot and killed her 29-year-old daughter after an argument, police said.

Toni McKayis accused of shooting Clara Vravis, 29, of Anaheim at about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the daughter’s home in the 1600 block of East Redwood Avenue, Anaheim Police Sgt. Frank Van Der Weerd said.

Van Der Weerd said that during the argument Vravis ordered her mother to leave the house.

“As McKay was leaving, she turned and fired several rounds from a small-caliber handgun, striking Vravis,” he said. Van Der Weerd said Vravis’ husband, Gregory, also was in the house when the shooting occurred. Vravis was taken to UCI Medical Center, where she died a short time later.

Fullerton police, who heard a radio broadcast describing McKay’s car, spotted it outside a restaurant at the intersection of Placentia and Nutwood avenues several hours later. They arrested her without incident.
