NATION : Bush Nominates Envoy for France

WASHINGTON —
President Bush will nominate Walter J. Curley, a New York businessman and former ambassador to Ireland, to be the next U.S. ambassador to France, the White House announced today.
Curley, a major fund-raiser for the Bush campaign and a family friend for 50 years, has been with the firm of W. J. P. Curley Venture Capital since 1977 and was envoy to Ireland in the Gerald R. Ford Administration. If confirmed by the Senate, he will succeed Joe Rodgers.
