Shriver, McNeil Gain 3d Round

Fourth-seeded Pam Shriver and No. 10 Lori McNeil scored straight-set victories today and reached the third round of the International Players Championships.

Shriver defeated Shaun Stafford of Gainesville, Fla., 6-4, 6-3, and McNeil beat Marie Calleja of France 6-1, 6-0.

Shriver, who struggled to a three-set triumph in the first round, took advantage of numerous unforced errors from the base line by Stafford.
