Three students who were reported missing in the Julian area Wednesday were found Thursday morning by sheriff’s deputies, according to Lt. Bob Travino of the Sheriff’s Department.
Diane Markert, 20; Sherrie Markert, 22, and James MacRobbie, 22, left on a one-day, 11-mile hike at 5 a.m and were scheduled to return at 7 p.m. When they didn’t return by midnight, their parents notified the Sheriff’s Department.
They were found in rough terrain but in good condition after a five-hour search by several rescue teams.
