Maxicare Names Creditors: The giant health maintenance organization, based in Los Angeles, identified the 20 largest creditors of dozens of its 45 operating units in filings with the Bankruptcy Court in Santa Ana. Maxicare Health Plans and subsidiaries in 19 states filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on March 15, listing a total of $1.97 billion in assets and $1.1 billion in liabilities. Among unsecured creditors listed for its Southern California subsidiary, Maxicare, are Pioneer Hospital in Artesia, which is owed $969,527, and Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Long Beach, $914,998. Family Health Services, based in Orange County, listed among its 20 biggest unsecured creditors UC Irvine Medical Center, $662,613; Childrens Hospital of Orange County, $468,431, and Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Long Beach, $288,856.
