Local News in Brief : Driver Killed When Car Slams Into Pole
A Lake View Terrace man was killed when he apparently ran a stop sign in his car and crashed into another auto and a power pole in Sun Valley, Los Angeles police said Saturday.
Donald Ray Brown, 34, died instantly when his car smashed into the pole at the intersection of Fenton Avenue and Pierce Street at 9:50 p.m. Friday, investigators said.
Police said Brown’s car slammed into the front of a car driven by Virginia Flores, 45, of Lake View Terrace. Flores, her husband and their 7-year-old daughter, who were wearing seat belts, were unhurt, investigators said.
Brown’s car struck the pole so violently that the front fender was bent inward, leaving the car looking like a horseshoe, traffic Officer Gene Kahmann said.
