Holiday travelers got an extra dose of freeway congestion as 12,000-volt power lines, downed when a pickup truck spun off an Orange County freeway exit, fell across the lanes of the 405 Freeway, forcing closures in both directions. About 4,500 homes and businesses also were without power for several hours in a four-square-mile area of Westminster and Huntington Beach. Authorities said the driver of a Mazda pickup truck tried to exit the freeway at a high rate of speed at Westminster Avenue and lost control. Authorities said the unidentified driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
