IN BRIEF : Sumpter, Rose Sign With Clippers

Forward-center Barry Sumpter and guard Bob Rose signed 10-day contracts with the Los Angeles Clippers today.
The roster openings were created Sunday when the Clippers released reserve center Greg Kite and placed swing man Reggie Williams, who has a sprained thumb, on the injured list.
Sumpter, 23, played the 1988-89 season with the Quad City Thunder of the Continental Basketball Assn.. The 6-foot-11 Sumpter, who attended Austin Peay, averaged 8.8 points and 11.1 rebounds in 54 games with the Thunder.
Rose, 24, played the 1988-89 season with the Wichita Falls Texans of the CBA. The 6-5 Rose, who played college ball at George Mason, averaged 22.2 points and 8.6 rebounds in 52 games with the Texans.
