Local News in Brief : Placentia : Police Still Seeking Clues in Abduction of Woman
- Share via
Police on Monday were still trying to determine who abducted a Placentia grandmother from her front porch last week and drove her around in the back of a van for several hours before releasing her unharmed.
Two men pulled Angelica Maria Perez, 65, into a van about 3:12 p.m. on Friday and drove off as her three grandchildren and a neighbor watched.
But within 7 hours, Perez, who suffers from diabetes, was released by her abductors at a fast-food restaurant in the City of Industry. Police said the woman was held the entire time in the back of the van.
A neighbor followed the van until it pulled onto the northbound Orange Freeway, then flagged down a police officer and gave a description of the vehicle, a late-model, maroon Chevrolet. It was found abandoned Friday night in El Monte.
Police are investigating the incident as a kidnaping, but say they have no suspects nor a motive.
