Local News in Brief : Man Shoots Mother, Kills Girlfriend, Self
A young man shot and killed his former girlfriend, then wounded her mother before killing himself, Torrance police said Tuesday.
Lt. Harold Maestri said Lee Tamashiro, 21, of Rolling Hills, went to the home of Stephanie Collins, 20, in the 2600 block of Grand Summit Road in Torrance on Monday evening, opening fire on both her and her mother, Karen, 46.
The wounded mother escaped to a neighbor’s home and called police, who arrived to find both Tamashiro and the younger woman dead.
The mother was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where her wounds were not considered serious. He said Tamashiro, who apparently had dated Stephanie Collins until recently, was carrying two notes, “one to each family.”
