A 28-year-old convicted robber from Los Angeles County died after he was severely beaten about the head during a fight with a fellow inmate in an exercise yard at Corcoran State Prison, a prison official said. Richard Arizmendi, who died at a Fresno hospital, was the first inmate to die in violence at the new prison in Kings County, Lt. Evelyn Mazon said. The other inmate was not identified.
