Malaria Mosquitoes Discovered in Israel

JERUSALEM —
Malaria-carrying mosquitoes were found in a swamp in northern Israel after the disease had been virtually eradicated from the area for 50 years, a health official said Thursday.
Health Ministry chief entomologist Rafi Lidror said that “the situation is under control. No people have been contaminated.”
He linked its reappearance to the emigration to Israel of Jews from malaria-ridden countries.
