Culver City : Spartan Supply Signs OKd

Share

The Redevelopment Agency on Monday approved a modified design for a proposed pole sign and two wall signs at the Spartan Supply Co. on Washington Boulevard.

Two members of the city’s Sign Ordinance Revision Ad-Hoc Committee asked the agency not to approve the pole sign or any similar signs until the committee releases its recommendations on new guidelines for signs to the City Council in about a month.

Spartan Supply originally asked the agency to approve two pole signs, an existing one to be modified on Washington Boulevard, and a new one on National Boulevard. The company later added a request for two wall signs.

Although the existing sign was within the limits of a 1974 sign ordinance and a more recent interim ordinance, some agency members said the committee’s deliberations should be taken into account in deciding whether to approve the signs.

The agency approved a design for a 24-foot tall sign on Washington Boulevard, with a face measuring six by 14 feet, and two wall signs facing Washington and National boulevards, each measuring 46 square feet.
