A Lebanese immigrant was charged with hijacking a Greyhound bus in Canada and holding its passengers hostage for eight hours outside Parliament in Ottawa. His lawyer said the suspect will be examined by a psychiatrist before facing trial. Charles J. Yacoub, 32, who claimed to represent the previously unknown Christian Lebanese Liberation Front, “appears to be calm and rational,” his attorney, Gilles Charlebois, said. None of the 11 people aboard the bus was injured in the hijacking. Eight of the passengers who were aboard when the bus was hijacked in Montreal were flown, at the bus company’s expense, to New York, their original destination.
