Share

Family Arts Day will be held at the Newport Harbor Art Museum on May 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mimes will perform, art booths will be open and refreshments and guided tours of the exhibitions will be offered. In conjunction with an exhibit of Matisse stencil prints (produced from paper cut-outs the artist made at the age of 74), workshops in paper-cutting will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for children aged 3 to 15 and from 1 to 2 p.m. for ages 6 and up. Advance registration for the workshops is advised.

Family Arts Day is sponsored by the museum’s Family Arts Council, a new membership group providing art-related experiences for families with young children.

The council’s summer programs will include two series of art classes for ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 during July and August, and a “Back Bay Cleanup” for children of all ages on Aug. 12.
