NCNB Corp.: The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank holding company reported first-quarter earnings of $76 million, up 8% from a year ago. The firm, which has full-service banks in seven Southern states, credited the results to improved core banking activities, including total deposits, which rose a strong 12%.
