The U.S. Navy reinstated the Hazeltine Corp. as a potential competitor for defense contracts, four months after the Long Island, N.Y., firm was suspended in the Pentagon Ill Wind fraud case. Hazeltine, a subsidiary of Emerson Electric Co., paid nearly $2 million in criminal fines and civil penalties in January after pleading guilty to conspiracy to defraud, conversion of federal property and making a false statement while seeking a $150-million contract to build radar testing devices. Two of the firm’s former executives, Charles A. Furciniti, and Joseph R. Colarusso were among the first in the case to plead guilty to obtaining inside information from consultants William L. Parkin and Fred H. Lackner.
