A San Fernando Superior Court jury has found a 35-year-old transient guilty in the shooting death of a prostitute.

Daniel Leon Martinez was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the Dec. 2 killing of 22-year-old Camela Dawn Szafrancski, Deputy Dist. Atty. Sue G. Lasicka said. Szafrancski, identified by authorities as a prostitute, was shot once in the head with a small-caliber gun, Lasicka said.

The victim’s body was found in a Granada Hills office building where she worked, police said. Martinez was arrested four days later when police officers pulled him over for a traffic violation in the same area and discovered that he was driving the victim’s car.
