Gerald J. Stanfield has joined Newport Pacific Funding, Newport Beach, as a marketing loan executive and will oversee the firm’s marketing operation that provides mortgage funds to other supervised lenders, including banks and credit unions. Prior to joining Newport Pacific, Stanfield was a top producer for Western Cities Mortgage in Tustin and also owned Sierra Funding in that city.

Civil Engineers

ACCOLADES: The Orange County chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers has named Carl Nelson Engineer of the Year. The honor recognizes his career, spanning more than 30 years. Nelson is vice president of public works for the Keith Cos. in Costa Mesa.

Developers

Two executive promotions have been made at Sheldon L. Pollack Corp.’s Santa Monica-based offices: John P. Pollack, president and chief executive officer, and Eileen Pollack Erickson, vice president and chief financial officer. The eldest son and daughter of the late Sheldon L. Pollack have been actively involved with the company for 15 and 10 years, respectively. Both intend to pursue the company’s “total concept” activities (architecture, development and construction) in California and throughout the Sun Belt.

Richard Fisher has become a partner at Lincoln Property Co./Fore Division in Westlake Village. He will oversee all real estate operations within the Fore Division, which directs its activities in Central and Southern California, as well as Nevada and several Eastern states.

Headquartered in Orange, Century American has engaged Joseph C. Ruiz as its chief financial officer. He brings more than 14 years of public accounting experience to the firm’s operation, which specializes in residential, retail and apartment projects throughout the Southland.

San Diego-based R & L Properties has appointed Steven M. Davis its corporate controller. His duties will include directing the daily financial operations of the commercial and residential development company and overseeing its investment projections.

Roger Yuter has been named manager of Bramalea California Inc.’s newly formed San Diego division. Yuter will handle all the company’s San Diego activities of forward planning, governmental processing, marketing and land acquisition.

The Baldwin Co. has added Ross D. Spalding as director of community relations. The firm has projects in Carmel, Del Mar, San Marcos and Chula Vista, and is in the early planning phase for the 20,000-acre Otay Ranch, east of Chula Vista.

ACCOLADES: Peter M. Ochs, chairman and chief executive officer of the Fieldstone Co., has been named Builder of the Year by California Builder magazine. He was selected from 10 other finalists, representing the residential and commercial building industry throughout the state.

Attorney Michael N. Silver has become a name partner in the law firm of Grayson, Givner, Booke & Silver, formerly Sanger, Grayson, Givner & Booke. He will practice at the firm’s Encino office.

Brokers

Coldwell Banker Residential Group of Newport Beach has announced the appointment of Thomas J. Norman to the posts of senior vice president, secretary and general counsel. He will direct all its legal activities and operating companies. Coldwell Banker is a member of the Sears Financial Network.

Caroline Lembeck has become vice president of residential sales at Stan Herman & Associates in Beverly Hills. Lembeck will be in charge of its residential sales and will continue to service her established clientele.

The position of vice president of marketing at Jon Douglas has been filled by Debrah Constance, a veteran of 12 years in the field. Recently, she was honored for spearheading the company’s efforts and commitment toward alleviating the homeless crisis in the Los Angeles area through various benefits and drives.

Paul Tolnai has become regional manager of the Hanes Co. Inc. at its Orange County regional office. Headquartered in Woodland Hills, the company is an independent investment real estate brokerage firm.

ACCOLADES: Jon Douglas, Southern California realtor, along with community volunteer Virginia Zamboni and consumer advocate Mary Solow, has received the 1989 Humanitarian Award from the Santa Monica Bay Area chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews.

Planners

After 30 years of service for the city, Frank Kroeger, general manager of the Department of Building and Safety for the City of Los Angeles, has announced his retirement, effective May 8. Kroeger has been directing the operations of the department since May, 1984.

Faulkner Co. has brought in Robert Gene Caudill, Jr. to its downtown Los Angeles office as vice president. In this position he will represent all landlord and tenant leaseholdings for the firm. He was previously a vice president with Los Angeles Realty Service Inc.

Architects

Douglas Smith Architects of Santa Monica has announced two additions to its firm: Pat Whempner as project manager and Lynda Bleiler as project coordinator.
