Carol Hobson, executive director of the the Public Arts Advisory Council of San Diego County since January, 1987, announced her resignation last week, effective mid-May. Hobson developed a number of cultural programs, presiding over the commissioning of numerous public art pieces for county buildings and the revival of a program that encourages landowners to contribute to the arts at the time they pay property taxes. She is resigning to spend more time with her infant. “We’ve got all the grants written,” Hobson said. “We’re wrapping up the program for this year. This (child) is full time right here.” She said she does not expect the appointment of her replacement until midsummer.
