Pastor, Churchgoer Drown During Baptism

CAPE TOWN, South Africa —
A pastor drowned together with a young woman he was baptizing in a South African river as scores of worshipers looked on, the newspaper Die Burger reported today.
Nelolitha Mapatsela, 26, panicked when Pastor Payi submerged her head and pulled him under. Payi, 32, freed himself and dived back in to search for Mapatsela. Divers later recovered the bodies of the two, who belonged to the Church of Zion in the black township of Khayelitsha near Cape Town.
