“Paris Kidnaping Helen,” a 17th century bronze by Italian sculptor Jean-Francois Susini, has been sold to an anonymous buyer at a Paris auction for $2.9 million, close to the world record for a sculpture. The work, measuring 28 inches by 15 inches, was produced in 1627 and belonged to the descendants of De Machault D’Arnouville, finance minister to French King Louis XV. The record price for a sculpture is $3.6 million, paid in New York in 1987 for Giacometti’s bronze “Large Woman Standing.”
