Closing County Juvenile Camps
In response to “Juvenile Camps in Jeopardy,” Metro, April 15:
Excuse me, but wasn’t it just a couple of years ago that I received a check, authorized by the governor from the state’s surplus? Why is it that now, two years later, we are facing budget cuts? Is the governor’s foresight no longer than his nose? We aren’t getting any more services from the state. Our taxes are higher. Why the sudden deficit?
Now come on, Gov. Deukmejian, don’t you think we could do with a little less development in Long Beach and a little more support for our youth? More support for basic education? More support for job training? More support for mental health clinics? And more support for juvenile camps?
That’s where I want my tax dollars going!
