One man was injured Wednesday when two youths in a stolen car led officers on a high-speed chase through Glendale, hitting five other cars, police said.

Martin Vidal, 19, and a 15-year-old boy, both of Glendale, were arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto after the 10-minute chase, which ended when a police car rammed the stolen Chevrolet Blazer, causing it to hit a palm tree, Glendale police Sgt. Brad Liston said.

Salvator Marino, 57, of Glendale was treated at Glendale Adventist Hospital for shoulder pains after his car was broadsided by the suspects’ vehicle at the intersection of Brand Boulevard and Goode Avenue, police said. Two other moving cars and three parked cars also were hit by the fleeing car, Liston said, but there were no other reported injuries.

The chase began at about 1:50 p.m. when police spotted the Chevrolet that had been reported as stolen from a restaurant parking lot 20 minutes earlier, authorities said. After police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects drove at speeds up to 60 m.p.h through at least six city streets, jumping curbs and knocking down traffic signs, Liston said.

When the car neared several schools that were letting out, a police car rammed the Blazer to push it out of the path of pedestrians and stop it, authorities said.
