Drive-Through Banking Would be Safer

Share

It’s obvious to me that ATMs present an excellent opportunity for would-be thieves, muggers and murderers. All too often the machines are located in dark corners or behind the bank. They are invariably badly lit and are located some distance from parking spaces.

Considering that the main attraction of an ATM is after-hours banking, wouldn’t it be logical for the banks to design access to these machines so that access during darkness is safer? I lived in Texas for some years, where because of the humidity and heat nearly all ATMs are of the drive-through type. Drive-up ATMs would seem to be the best bet, not only to avoid unpleasant weather but to allow relatively safe access to one’s money.
