Bicyclist, 41, Injured by Hit-Run Car in Anaheim

A 41-year-old bicyclist was critically injured Saturday when he was struck by a speeding automobile near the intersection of State College Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue in Anaheim. The automobile, described by witnesses as small and gray or off-white, went north on State College after the accident.

Anaheim police said the injured man, Michael Joseph McClary, 41, of Anaheim, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with multiple head injuries. McClary was listed as in critical condition late Saturday.

Officers said McClary was riding his 10-speed bicycle north in the 1500 block of State College when he was struck from the rear by the car. The victim was found by police and paramedics in the left-hand turn lane at Cerritos Avenue.

According to police, the hit-and-run vehicle was driven by a man.

Officers requested that anyone with information about the accident call the Anaheim Police Department.

Similar Case

In another similar case, Garden Grove police were searching for a late model silver Honda Accord that struck and killed a Garden Grove man late Friday night on Harbor Boulevard near Chapman Avenue.

The victim, who died just hours after he was taken to UCI Medical Center, was identified by the coroner as Charles A. Williams, 41, of Garden Grove.

Officers said they believe there are several motorists who witnessed the accident and asked that they call the police.

The accident occurred at 8:30 p.m. Williams was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m., police said.

Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol was attempting to sort out the facts surrounding a body found in the fast lane of the San Diego Freeway in Seal Beach.

Body Hit

Patrolmen reported that two motorists driving southbound on the freeway said they hit a body that was in the fast lane.

In was unclear whether the unidentified man, in his 20s, was alive when he was struck by the automobiles.

The incident occurred about 8 p.m. Friday. The man had still not been identified by late Saturday.

The victim was first struck by a 1983 Pontiac and then by a 1986 Chevrolet.
