A 14-year-old Sunland boy shot himself to death Sunday after he and another boy burglarized a home, police said.

The boy was found dead about 7:45 a.m. in the bedroom of a home in the 10400 block of Parr Avenue, Los Angeles Police Lt. George Rock said.

The boy had just returned from burglarizing a Sunland house with another 14-year-old boy when the suicide occurred, Rock said. Authorities did not release the victim’s name because of his age.

“It was indicated that he was having problems with his parents and with school, and he felt despondent over those problems,” Rock said.

The boy had been talking about death and the problems he was having before he took a .38-caliber revolver stolen in the burglary and shot himself in the head, police said.

The second boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary, police said.

The victim ran away from home April 6 and had been living at various Sunland residences since then, Rock said.
