Police have arrested a man believed to have injured an officer two weeks ago during an auto theft in City Heights, authorities said.

Police spokesman Dave Cohen said officers received a tip and arrested 20-year-old Thomas Quidacha about 6 p.m. Tuesday near Fairmount and University avenues, Cohen said.

He said Quidacha had a stolen car when arrested.

Police believe that Quidacha was in a car in the 3000 block of 44th Street that sped off April 12 and dragged Officer Jeffrey Durbin about 30 feet after he reached in to grab the keys from the ignition.

Durbin was on a burglary call when he attempted to stop the car after noticing that it had no license plates and its side window was shattered, Cohen said.

Shortly afterward, an ambulance and a fire truck, with sirens blaring and speeding to the aid of Durbin, collided at University and 43rd Street. Four firefighters, two paramedics and a doctor were injured in the accident.
