Another 78 acres of prime Sierra Nevada forest land is being made a part of Calaveras Big Trees State Park, home of some of the largest trees in the world. The $440,000 joint purchase by the state and the Save-the-Redwoods League will help buffer the Central California preserve from housing developments going up nearby, a park administrator said.
