SEATTLE — Boeing Co. announced today that Thai Airways International has ordered eight Boeing jets valued at $400 million.
The order for seven Boeing 737-400 jets and a 747-400 jumbo jet is expected to be delivered by 1993.
So far this year, Boeing has announced orders for 525 jetliners worth about $28.4 billion, just shy of the record $29.7 billion for 636 jets ordered in 1988.
Thai will be the first airline in Southeast Asia to operate the 737-400, a stretch version of Boeing’s best-selling twin-engine jet. The airline already has orders placed for two other 747-400s.
