Right fielder Jose Canseco of the Oakland Athletics may report to the Huntsville (Ala.) Stars of the Southern League Saturday for a rehabilitative assignment. He has missed most of the season with a stress fracture in his left wrist.
Canseco’s Huntsville assignment is contingent upon his progress during workouts this week in Oakland. After two days of batting practice, Canseco has not experienced pain in the injured wrist.
If he goes, Canseco, voted the American League’s most valuable player last season, will spend a minimum of five days at Huntsville. Canseco had 42 home runs and 124 runs batted in last season.
