Fountain Valley : Youth Held in Knife Attack at High School

An 18-year-old Los Amigos High School student was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a fellow student after the two had argued in the school parking lot, Lt. Larry Griswold said.

Nathaniel G. Bonghanoy, a senior from Santa Ana, was arrested at 10:33 a.m. on suspicion of stabbing a 16-year-old classmate whose name was withheld by police because he is a juvenile. The victim was treated by paramedics before being transported to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition with a chest wound.

Police said the incident occurred about 7:45 a.m., after the victim and two friends were driven to the school by a parent and dropped off at the parking lot. The car carrying the three teens was apparently cut off by another car in the parking lot, police said.

Bonghanoy, who was driving his car into the lot at the same time, began laughing at the teens for having been cut off. When the group confronted Bonghanoy, they began to argue and the suspect stabbed the victim once in the chest with a pocket knife, Griswold said.

After the stabbing, Bonghanoy fled in his car and allegedly injured a student by driving over his foot.
