LOCAL : Lost Girl Safe: Stayed With Friend
A missing 7-year-old Canoga Park girl was found this morning when she arrived at school, saying she had spent the night with a friend after missing her school bus Thursday afternoon.
Investigators searched all night for Ruth Noemy Ayala, a student at Melvin Street School in Canoga Park, after the girl’s father reported her missing Thursday evening, Los Angeles Police Detective Stan Miller said.
The child told authorities that she missed the bus that takes her from her school to Canoga Park School, where her father picks her up. Ruth, who came from Guatemala three months ago, said she could not reach her parents because she did not know her phone number or address, so she went home with a classmate for the night, Miller said.
Authorities said they confirmed the story with the classmate’s family and returned Ruth to her parents this morning.
