Ex-Olympian Jones Wins in Pro Debut
Olympic boxer Roy Jones Jr. put the disappointment of returning home without a gold medal behind him Saturday night with a second-round knockout of Ricky Randall in his professional debut.
Jones, fighting for the first time since losing a controversial 3-2 decision in the 156-pound Olympic gold-medal match at Seoul, knocked Randall down twice in the first round and once in the second.
Earlier, Derrick (Hurricane) Kelly retained his North American Boxing Federation welterweight title with a third-round knockout of Joe Walker; former World Boxing Assn. heavyweight champion Tony Tubbs won by disqualification over Eddie Richardson, and junior-middleweight Tony Montgomery gained a 10-round decision over Charles Hollis.
