Advertising Claims Settled: Campbell Soup has agreed to pay nine states, including California, a total of $315,000 over disputed advertising claims about the health benefits of its soups. Wisconsin Atty. Gen. Don Hanaway said Wednesday that Campbell, based in Camden, N.J., will pay each state $35,000 in costs. He said the Campbell’s ads, which have not run since early 1988, made false or misleading claims about high fiber and high calcium content and other health benefits.
