SOUTHLAND : Child’s Burned Body Found in Park

The severely burned body of a child was found in a park in San Pedro this morning. Police said that the sex, race and identity of the child could not be immediately determined but that the victim appeared to be less than 12 years old. The body was found about 6:30 a.m. by a student walking through Alma Park, at 21st and Meyler streets, on the way to school.
Detectives said the cause of death, when the victim died and whether the child was killed in the park had not been determined.
