DUST BOWL LEGACY

Share

I must thank you for publishing “Dust Bowl Legacy” (March 26). Although I did not suffer the depth of many “Okie” (I hate that word yet!) sorrows, I came from Missouri, in 1936, via bus, to Los Angeles, to a lost dream, which I recovered by hard work.

I praise the writer, Richard Lee Colvin. What a piece of work! Research, knowledge, sensitivity and the stern pen that can write it all out.

If you haven’t read John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath,” you’ve missed the great American story. Colvin weaves the novel in with history, delving into the hearts of man. That, only a great writer can do.
