CLAYTON, Mo. — St. Louis County police arrested James Wilder, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back, and booked him on a misdemeanor drug offense after stopping his car on Interstate 270 early Saturday, authorities said.
Wilder, 31, a former Missouri star who is Tampa Bay’s career rushing leader, was later released, officer Linda Guccione said, but his 1989 Mercedes was confiscated pending laboratory tests on a substance taken from the vehicle.
“Since it was not a felony, I’m sure the substance was marijuana,” said Guccione, who added that two passengers in Wilder’s car, neither of them identified, were also booked.
