Fan violence during and after a soccer game in London resulted in 25 arrests and 16 being hospitalized for minor injuries, shattering a month of calm after the Sheffield stadium tragedy.

Fans from Birmingham and Crystal Palace clashed on the field early in the game, resulting in 17 arrests. Another eight were arrested after the game when they vandalized buses parked near the stadium, police said.

The incident was the first significant case of crowd violence in England since 95 fans died when they were crushed against a fence at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield April 15.
