Singles victories by Iwalani McCalla and Kirsten Dreyer paced No. 3-ranked UCLA to a 5-2 victory over No. 2 Florida Saturday to set up a final against top-seeded Stanford today for the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.’s women’s tennis title.

Stanford reached the final with a 6-0 sweep of No. 4 Georgia.

The Cardinal-Bruins matchup today assures that a Pac-10 Conference team will win the national championship for the eighth straight year.

Stanford, 28-0 in dual matches this season, is seeking its fourth consecutive national title. Stanford won two regular-season dual matches over UCLA (21-4) this season, both by 5-1 scores.

UCLA’s bolstered lineup was the key to beating Florida. McCalla, a freshman who joined the team late in March, defeated Holly Lloyd, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 4 singles. Dreyer, who played sparingly during the regular season due to shoulder tendinitis, downed Siobhan Nicholson, 6-3, 7-5, in No. 6 singles.

The Bruins also got singles victories from No. 3 Mamie Ceniza, who defeated Holly Danforth 6-1, 6-4, and No. 4 Stella Sampras, who beat Andrea Berger, 6-0, 6-3.
