Students at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst ended a hunger strike in support of protests against military-funded research on campus after agreeing not to hold further demonstrations this semester, officials said. In return, the university promised to take no action against the hunger strikers and drop proceedings against more than 150 demonstrators arrested during the five campus sit-ins, providing they also pledge not to stage other protests this semester. Both the hunger strikers and other protesters agreed to perform some community service.
